Penelope Marzec
The Romantic Heroine: Big Girls Don't Cry
Today’s romantic heroines are stronger  than ever before and many of them are capable of saving
themselves as well as the hero.  They take the lead and go where angels fear to tread as doctors, lawyers,
investigators,  vampire hunters, and more. They no longer need to be sweet and virginal.   Are there any taboos left in the romantic genre? And should there be?

Join author, Penelope Marzec, author for a discussion of today’s romance
novels and the heroines who define  them.

Penelope Marzec started reading romances as a teenager and became hopelessly hooked on happy endings.
She writes in several subgenres of romance: paranormal, historical, contemporary, and inspirational.
Two of her inspirationals won the EPPIE award and one finaled in that contest. Her paranormal,                     Irons In The Fire, was a nominee for Romantic Times Reviewers Choice award.

Merry Brennan
Sure Fire Tips to Improve your Writing
Feel the sizzle? It’s the pop in your prose, the drama in your dialogue, the sting in your surprise ending.
Whether writing a novel, short story, essay or love letter, you want to make your words entice, engage and
keep readers turning pages (or screens.) These tried and true techniques will help your take your craft to the next level.
You’ll learn how to improve the pull of your opening lines, elevate the impact of your endings and explore several ways
to wow with the words in between.  (Includes hand-outs, laughs and usually some red licorice.)

Merry Brennan is an award-winning journalist, communications consultant, adjunct writing professor and
author of the self-published biographical novel, Peace Pilgrim: walking her talk against hate. The Jersey Shore
resident is mom to three great children and an old lab, Scout, who breaks into the refrigerator when no one’s looking.
